Listening to : Pottercast
Watching : The Triangle
Mood : loquacious, up for a discussion.
I have not read many science-fiction books or even fantasy ones for that matter, but the subject of time travel is always been exciting and enthralling to me. I have always wondered the 'what if..' and the time travel provides not just the vision into the alternate reality, but also a subjective/objective vision. While watching 'The Triangle' today, a theory was propounded in the script that made me deliberate upon this.
A time warp.
I'm not a Trekkie or a sci-fi fan as I said, but in my limited arena the only instances of time travel that I admired and can lay my hands on are
The Time Turner (in Prisoner of Azkaban),
The Dolorean (in Back to the Future)
and now in The Triangle, its electromagnetic radiation or substance of some sort. I could also mention that lame Keanu Reeves movie he and his bud travel here and there to complete their homeowork. And one episode of the old Dr. Who, which was a bit disappointing.
Whatever the means used, the imperative thing to remember in time travel is to always complete the circle, to always come back from where you belong because "bad things happen to those wizards who meddle with time".
We see in Back to the Future how Michael J. Fox has to go all the way back to 1885 to get his life back in order to get his future in line. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry and Hermione both have to do the same thing, parallel and help themselves, to get their objective.
Would future be very different if there was a Dolorean everyplace? (Ofcourse, I so would not give my exams!)
But a situation of confrontation between the past, present and future (like in Jurassic Park) is always threatening to destabilise any order.
I'm still conflicted though my time runs out...
